Eco Tourism is Booming in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is one of the world leaders in eco tourism, according to international experts, who participated in the 3rd International Conference of Eco Tourism 2006. The attendees said that Costa Rican experience serves as a pioneer for the Global Conference of eco tourism that will be carried out in May 2007 in Oslo, Norway. Remote beaches, an amazing diversity of climates, rugged mountains, lush jungles, rain forests and cloud forests provide an ever changing landscape to the traveler. Noted for world class sport fishing, surfing, wind surfing and white water rafting, the adventure seeker will be right at home. Recent Hotel Development on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica Shortly after the 2300 acre 5 Star Four Seasons Hotel opened, Marriott announced their start of a 310 unit development.. Hyatt Hotels quickly followed suit, committing 100 million dollars on 557 acres to build a 214 room hotel and 100 condominiums, including the addition of a Greg Norman Golf Course. The Ritz Carlton is looking at land owned by Steve Case, of America Online, Starwood Hotels has announced plans underway to build 113 unit hotel, a cliff top presidential suite, a spa and residences. Regent, Ramada and The Rosewood Hotels have all recently announced or are in construction of large developments, with all locating along the Pacific Coast. Emphasis has been on high end residential communities, condominiums and 5 star Hotels. It is almost certain Walt Disney Company will join the ranks of high end hotel and resort destinations staking their claim in Costa Rica. In the summer of 2006 Disney launched their highly publicized Pura Vida Tours. Rumor has it that Walt Disney Corporation bought an Island in the Gulf of Nicoya 40 years ago and recently it has been confirmed that the company purchased other large tracks of land. Foreigners are buying real estate faster than developers can build them.
